GC Analyst/ Laboratory Analyst

Type: Permanent
Hours: Days, Monday Friday (onsite/ lab based)
Location: Bedfordshire

Our client, a major national -testing company is looking to recruit an experienced GC Analyst who will work at their new facility in Bedford. This is an exciting time to join this company whilst they experience this period of growth.

As an Analyst, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of various instruments. You will ensure that samples are analysed in a timely manner by scheduling time on instruments and communicating with extractors and senior analysts to ensure an efficient process. You will review results and highlight any anomalous results and provide support to senior analysts.

The Role:

ØFollow established procedures to perform trace organic analysis on a wide range of samples/matrices.
ØOperates primary assigned instrumentation within the GC section.
ØProcesses and interprets analytical results for entry onto LIMS.
ØApplies correct QC requirements for analyses.
ØPerforms routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of analytical equipment.
ØMaintains accurate data records.
ØMaintains a safe working environment in accordance with company policy.
ØFollows company Quality Policy.
ØRaises QC queries and non-conforming work as needed.
ØPrepare samples, solutions and reagents following standard laboratory formulas and procedures.
ØWorks with extraction staff to ensure samples are prepared for analysis according to customer requirements.


The Person:


ØBSc in Chemistry or closely related subject, or equivalent industrial experience.
ØExperience working within an analytical testing laboratory, operating GC-MS and/or GC-MS/MS instrumentation, including performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
ØSample preparation techniques e.g. liquid: liquid extraction, solid phase extraction etc.
ØAbility to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
ØGood communication and interpersonal skills
